Chief Keef is making headlines again, and once again it’s not because of his music. The recently incarcerated rapper may find his way right back into juvenile detention after his current 60-day stint is up…that is, if one middle school aged girl has anything to do with it!
According to TMZ, Chief Keef is being sued for child support by a middle school aged girl! The girl filed the petition for child support in Chicago, claiming that Keef, who’s 17 years old, fathered a baby daughter with her back in 2011.
While the girl’s exact age isn’t specified in the docs, what IS specified is that she currently attends a Chicago middle school. Going by the average age range of middle school kids these days, the girl could have been as young as 12 when she conceived the child! Keef would have been 15.
According to Illinois state law, it is considered a misdemeanor for two people under the age of 17 to have sex, even if the relations are consensual. When both parties are between the ages of 9 and 17 years old, the older person commits a crime called “criminal sexual abuse.”
Punishment for criminal sexual abuse carries a max sentence of one year in jail , and a requirement to register as a sex offender for ten years. Luckily for Keef however, these cases are not generally prosecuted.
What that means is that, unless the girls parents decide to press charges (and let’s face it, if they didn’t do it in 2011, then they probably won’t do it now), Keef will most likely just have to pay up.
The girl is suing Keef for an undisclosed amount of child support, including health insurance and other medical expenses.
