It looks like 2013 is Angela Bassett’s year!

Bassett is set to star in the Lifetime TV movie Betty & Coretta alongside Mary J. Blige, White Bird Blizzard with Gabourey Sidibe, and Olympus Has Fallen with Morgan Freeman.

Now photogs have spotted Bassett on set for the Kasi Lemmons directed drama Black Nativity. Principal photography started Monday on the  film which also stars Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese and Jacob Lattimore.

Based on the Langston Hughes stage play, the holiday musical follows a street-wise teen from Baltimore (Jacob Lattimore) raised by a single mother (Jennifer Hudson), as he journeys to New York City to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged relatives Reverend Cornell and Aretha Cobbs (Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett).

Raphael Saadiq has been taped to score the film, and we have a hunch it’s going to be pretty amazing!
