Last night, Grammy Award-winning singer Chrisette Michele was forced to cancel a scheduled show in New York after being rushed to the hospital with a ruptured appendix.
During her hospitalization, she posted a special message to fans on Instagram expressing how upset she was that she had to cancel the show. “I hate that I can’t perform tonight … but I have no choice. I love you NYC. I swear. Xo,” she wrote, along with posting this photo.
Still, the singer seemed adamant about not canceling a Wednesday appearance at “Curl Power Celebration,” a natural hair event with hair blogger, Curly Nikki. “I told the doctor I’m NOT missing that! Even if I’m in a wheelchair!” Chrisette posted online. But according to Nikki’s tweets, Chrisette has canceled:
NYC Update: Due to medical reasons, the #curlyhomie Chrisette Michele will be unable to attend tonight. Please pray for her and the fam.

Hospitalization for a ruptured appendix typically range from a few hours to a few days, but can be a few weeks if complications occur. The recovery process may vary depending on the severity of the condition, but ranges from about four to six weeks.
HipHollywood reached out to Chrisette’s rep for more information on her condition with no response. We hope she makes a speedy recovery!
