HipHollywood’s Head Honcho Kevin Frazier Featured in Ebony!

Kevin Frazier opens up to Ebony magazine about the decision to give up his son, Tony Tull, when he and his girlfriend (who were both teens in high school) decided they were too young to be parents. In the one of the most revealing interviews, Frazier discusses the thought process of giving his child up for adoption and the profound impact that decision had on everyone’s life.

In the feature he states, “I was 100 percent terrified…there was tension within her family, because she was White and I was Black. These were huge dynamics at the time. Her parents weren’t happy and neither were mine.” Kevin continues, “We had a big meeting, and giving up the child for adoption was a decision that was mutually reached by everyone.”

Fortunately this story has a happy ending. Years after giving up Tony for adoption, Kevin was able to reconnect with him. “As I got older, I decided I need to see him. He was 13. We spent the day together, it was funny. We have the same mannerisms and we look alike. He’s the caramel coated version of me.” When Tony turned 19, he moved in with Kevin, which turned both their worlds upside down, “You can only imagine what it’s like when someone at 19 going on 20 moves in with you,” Kevin exclaims.

Today Kevin and Tony have a solid relationship. “He calls me Kevin. but to other people it’s always ‘My father’ or ‘My dad’. I’m fine with any one of them.”
