Remember that cute old lady in New York who sat next to Jay-Z on the subway and asked him if he was “famous?”
The woman’s name is Ellen Grossman, and although 2 months ago she didn’t know Jay from Adam, she’s quickly caught up since then! Of that now famous exchange, Grossman recalled:
“He was so nice. I felt this amazing energy. We didn’t talk about anything terribly profound. But just the feeling! I thought, ‘This is wonderful!’”
Grossman said she was on her way to Park Slope, Brooklyn when Hov and a swarm of people packed in the train, and sat right next to her. She said she initially thought the crowd was a ‘flash mob,’ and has admitted:
“I was slightly embarrassed (by not knowing who Jay-Z was), but not terribly.”
That exchange between Jay and Grossman has since gone viral. Grossman, who is an acclaimed artist of her own, said she researched Jay that same night and “admires” him as a fellow artist.
She even had an assistant at her art studio make her a Jay-Z CD to rock to.
In case you missed it, watch a clip of their exchange below. You can watch the full version in Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From” documentary here.
